Power Point Favorites
I liked Daniel Maurer's and Lu Songs' presentations the best. I thought the golf ball animation for Daniel's was amazing. He also had some pretty nice pictures, and very few words. Lu's Likns were unlike any I had ever seen. I also liked her transitions alot.

Power point
Most of the tips on the site were thing I had heard before, though it was nice to get a refresher.
Some advice on keeping people interested in your power point:
1) Do not fill the screen with text.
2) Ad appropriate videos
3) Prepare your speech ahead of time
4) Leave some blank areas on the slide
5) Use simple animation, unless you are trying to emphasize a point.

Search Engines
I thought it was useful to learn about the advanced search option in Google. Until Mr. Nolan's presentation, I did not know that it was possible to limit search results to .edu or .gov, etc.
There was not to much I was surprised about, though until now I never gave much thought to domain addresses of foreign websites.

Copyright laws
Unfortunately, I was sick so I could not attend the lecture. However, while taking the online copyright quiz, i learned that there is a law that allows the usage of a work without having to cite it. Called Fair Use, it allows for the reasonable use of copyrighted materials in specific circumstances.
These circumstances are somewhat vague, and have often been used to justify copyright infringement. For example, say a high school history teacher mad copies of the movie "Saving Private Ryan" and distributed them to his class. The teacher would argue that it was for an educational purpose, which is acceptable under Fair Use. However, the studio that produced it would argue that the teacher is infringing their rights. In this case, I would have to say that Fair Use does not apply. When the teacher copied and distributed the movie, the studio was denied any payment for the new copies. As the producer, they have a right to collect royalties for the first distribution of every copy of their movie.
